Baby massage is a lovely way to slow down and bond with your baby through touch. Using soft, gentle strokes over different areas of the body, we focus on a different area each week so you can gradually learn the whole body. We start with the legs, then move onto the tummy, chest, arms, back and face.

The great thing about baby massage is taking little moments for you and your baby. There are a number of benefits, including bonding, relaxation for both you and baby, and supporting tummy comfort and digestion. It can also be a lovely way to support both you and your baby’s wellbeing.

Little Moments’ baby-led approach

At Little Moments, our classes are baby-led. Is your baby crying? Not a problem, comfort your baby and see to their needs. Does your baby need a nappy change? Go ahead and change your baby’s nappy; we want them to be comfortable. Your baby isn’t enjoying a certain massage technique? Totally fine, you can skip that move!

Learning the techniques

I will demonstrate the techniques and give advice on how much pressure to apply, things to avoid and simple tips for you each week. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be present.

When is baby massage appropriate?

At Little Moments, we recommend baby massage from 6 weeks up to pre-crawling for our classes. Our motto is “We never massage an unhappy baby.” You want your baby to be in a calm, relaxed and alert state so they can enjoy the experience.

Taking it home

The beauty of baby massage is that once you have learnt all the moves, you can pick and choose the strokes you know your baby likes best. You can observe how your baby responds after a class, whether they are sleepy, relaxed or alert. This can help you work out when your baby enjoys massage most and when might be a good time to continue it at home.
